I know, I was surprised to find out that there really is an international summit dedicated to "glamping"! It was in Denver this year just last week and yours truly was there to represent "The Destination". There were over 200 participants from ten plus countries in attendance and I gotta tell you, it was a real validation that this industry is definitely here to stay in the US. A full two days of educational sessions presented by some of the top resort managers from both Europe and the US. Good information on building a resort that is more then just a tent, the importance of "Location, Accommodation, & Experience", eco-conscious properties, knowing your clientele, and delivering a glamping experience based on top notch service!
The opportunity to network with other people like us who are just starting their glamping properties, or just thinking about it, was also valuable. Sharing concerns and questions, feeling the mutual excitement about the industry, and just meeting some great folks from all over left me ready to get back to Alabama and get rolling!
